In response

I was devastated to see a picture of one of my horses on Nelson Snippets today.

I have been accused of animal cruelty by some of the general public. I have responded by contacting the Vet and also inviting SPCA out to fully inspect all of my animals.

As the vet said it has been  a difficult Summer but i have been hard feeding all the horses and i am sure that i am not alone with having some horses  lighter at the end of the Summer. However i am working on this with the feed they are being given.

The horse is one of my older horses, i only use her for very light work  as she is semi retired. I obviously missed her condition in relation to that picture.

The Vet has been out and examined the horse and was happy with her welfare. I had bloods and her teeth done. I asked the Vet to also carry out a inspection of all of my animals which he did and i discussed with him my feeding etc. All of which he had no concerns in regard to any animals welfare.

The SPCA was contacted by the Vet following his visit and they are happy with his inspection.

I am very distressed by all of this . At this point in time i do not know what my future plans for Wild Oats Farm will be.
